MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & DINNER
OF THE KINGSTON & DISTRICT BRANCH, F.S.N.A.Tuesday, 7th November 2006
Banquet Room, Mino’s Uptown Village Restaurant2762 Princess Street, Kingston, ON
1. Registration and “Meet & Greet”The evening began with a “Meet & Greet” from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. The business meeting took place before dinner was served.
2. Call to Order and Welcome
The President called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and welcomed the members in attendance.
3. Introduction of the National President
The President then welcomed the National President, Mr. Dennis Jackson, who was the guest speaker for the evening. Two members of the National Board of Directors; Stan Hrabarchuk, 2nd National Vice President and Pat King, Regional Director – Eastern B.C. Region, accompanied Mr. Jackson from Ottawa.
4. Minutes of the 2005 Annual General Meeting
There being no errors, omissions or discussion, it was moved by Donna Henderson that the Minutes of the 2005 Annual General Meeting be accepted. Seconded by Bill Wornes. MOTION CARRIED.
5. Business Arising from the Minutes
There was no business arising from the Minutes.
6. Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer, Jim Spencer presented the Treasurer’s report to 30th September 2006. The report was included in the package handed out to all members at the AGM. It was moved by Gilbert Wilcox and seconded by Barbara Fagg that the Treasurer’s Report be accepted as presented. MOTION CARRIED.
Jim Spencer then presented the Proposed Budget 2006-2007. It was moved by Rheal Garneau and Seconded by Ron Henderson that the Proposed Budget be accepted. MOTION CARRIED.
7. Reports of Officers and Committees
a) Marlyn thanked Jim Spencer for his report. She went on to thank all the members who made 2006 a great year by attending the Outreach luncheons and she also thanked the Board for working so hard to make everything happen in 2006.
Marlyn gave special thanks to Ron Henderson, our Vice-President, for filling in for her at the Presidents’ Conference in February and for taking the meeting after she had had heart surgery in March. It was very much appreciated and made for a great year.
As there were no reports from the Directors, Marlyn called on Ron Henderson for his report.
b) Vice-President/Operations, Ron Henderson reminded those present that 2007 was our Branch Anniversary Year. He also mentioned that the first Outreach Luncheon would be held on 13th February 2007 at the Silver Spurrs Cookhouse Restaurant, Industrial Blvd., Napanee.
c) Barbara Fagg presented the report from the Anniversary Committee and gave a brief synopsis of events planned in 2007 to celebrate the occasion.
8. Unfinished Business
There was no unfinished business.
9. New Business
a) Election of Officers:
The election of officers for 2006 was conducted by Bill Wornes as follows:
Vice-President/Operations -- Ron Henderson agreed to stand. Acclaimed.
Treasurer - Jim Spencer agreed to stand. Acclaimed.
Director/Membership -- Donna Henderson agreed to stand. Acclaimed.
Director/Recruitment -- Barbara Fagg agreed to stand. Acclaimed.
Secretary -- Lois Frauendienst agreed to stand. Acclaimed.
Co-Directors/Marketing -- Donna and Rheal Garneau agreed to stand. Acclaimed.
Co-Directors/Branch Report -- Bill Greenley and Kim Read agreed to stand. Acclaimed.
Co-Directors/Telephone Committee -- George and Annie Healy agreed to stand. Acclaimed.
Director/Health & Benefits -- Gilbert Wilcox agreed to stand, Acclaimed.
President -- Ron Aquino agreed to stand for a 6-month period. Acclaimed. Doug Kellett volunteered to work with Ron Aquino for the next 6 months in preparation for completing the last 6 months of the Presidency for 2007.
The Executive and Board of Directors for 2007 were sworn in by the National President, Dennis Jackson.
10. Guest Speaker
The guest speaker, National President, Dennis Jackson addressed those present and took questions from the floor on completion of his presentation. A book of paintings by well known Kingston artist Robert A. Blenderman titled, “Kingston, A City In Canada” and signed personally by the artist, was presented to Mr. Jackson in appreciation for him attending the 2006 FSNA Kingston Branch Annual General Meeting.
11. Adjournment
It was moved by Bill Wornes and seconded by Donna Henderson that the meeting adjourn. MOTION CARRIED. The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. Marlyn thanked those present for attending and hoped they would now enjoy their meal and the rest of the evening.
