Previous Meeting:
a) Errors
or Omissions:
Barb referred to para 8.a) ii) 3rd
line, and said she would like to see the name of the Past Executive
Director mentioned. The sentence now reads … “the Past Executive
Director, Jean Guy Souliere, gave a farewell speech”; …
b) Discussion:
None
c) Motion:
Donna Henderson moved that the Minutes of
the Meeting of 21st June 2007 be accepted as amended.
Seconded by Barb Fagg. MOTION CARRIED.

and Bills:

7. Treasurer’s Report:
As the Treasurer was on
vacation, his report will be forthcoming at the meeting on 18th
October 2007.
8. Reports of
Officers and Committees:
a) President:
The President, Ron Aquino, is away.
b) Vice-President/Administration:
Barb Fagg reported:
“I am sure those who attended Convention 07 were as impressed as I
with the way the Convention was run, this was an experience all
should have the opportunity to enjoy, however this was the last. In
future (once the 2007 By-Laws have been approved) there will be a
President’s conference held each year and only the Presidents will
be invited to attend. A yearly conference is great for some reasons,
we won’t have to wait as long for changes to be approved, however
the experience for Board members is a loss.
“Increases in dues were adopted as were advised earlier, $2.85
per month single, $3.70 per month double, Associate Members were only
increased to $15.00 (not $20.00), some delegates felt the large
increase would discourage new Associate Members.
“Once a complete report of Convention 07 is received from
National Office, we will have a complete briefing for this Board.
“My appreciation to the Board for allowing me the opportunity to
attend the Convention 07.”
c) Vice-President/Operations:
Nothing to report.
d) Membership:
Donna Henderson presented her report.
Donna asked for a motion to remove the names of those who have not
paid their 2007 Membership Fees. Luc Bujold moved that the names of
those members who have not paid be removed from the Membership List.
Seconded by Marlyn Convery. MOTION CARRIED. Barb Fagg moved
to accept the Membership Report. Seconded by Luc Bujold. MOTION
CARRIED.
e) Health & Benefits:
Marlyn Convery reported that
there will be no increase in Health & Dental premiums for the
next five years as agreed to between FNSA and Treasury Board. A full
report will be forthcoming.
Marlyn has been in touch with Agnes Bolarinko, a representative of
an organization “Heart to Heart” and suggested having Ms. Bolinko
address our Branch. Since this is not endorsed or supported by FSNA
as part of our Affinity Program, Ron Henderson suggested that we
should only leave pamphlets for pick-up at FSNA events. Most of the
members present agreed.
f) 25th Anniversary
Report:
Barb Fagg presented her report: “Our BBQ held at
Fort Frontenac on 21st August was a fun event, many of our
members and Board enjoyed an evening by the water.
“The Committee met last week, we are now near the end of our
Anniversary celebration. Our next and final event will be the 25th
Anniversary celebration for past and present Board members, this will
be held on Friday, 7th December 2007.
“We are now in the process of preparing the invitation list for
the Birthday Celebration for past and present Board members, this
involves checking the lists we have available to see if past Board
members are still with us, this event is by invitation only. If you
are aware of any one who was a past Board member, please let Ron
Henderson or myself aware so we can ensure they are on our list.
Invitations will be sent in late October, this celebration will be
held on 7th December 07 at the Military Communications &
Electronics Museum, Base Kingston.”
g) Branch Report:
Luc Bujold raised the question of
having an “In Memoriam” column included in the Branch Report
which was agreed to.
h) Recruitment:
No report.
i) Social Committee:
Lois will send a “Get Well”
Card to Annie Healy.
j) Telephone Committee:
George and Annie Healy were
unable to attend as Annie was in Hospital. It was requested by
George Healy that Annie’s report be tabled until the October 20th
meeting.

Business:
None.
10. New Business:
a) 30-day Plan:
i)
Send out a “Thank You” letter to Peggy Davidson for donating six
hand-made plates which were used as door prizes at the BBQ. Ron
Aquino will send the letter.
ii)
AGM Planning:
Ron Henderson handed
out a proposed Agenda for the up-coming AGM.
Master of
Ceremonies: Ron Henderson suggested that we ask Bill Wornes if
he would act in this capacity.
Election of
Officers: Marlyn will conduct this function.
Guest
Speaker/Guest of Honour for AGM: Suggestions: Fred Lewis,
Commandant of Fort Frontenac has offered himself to speak on
Afghanistan. Robert Lappiere Manager Branch Services or Bernard
Dussault, Senior Research & Communications Officer.
Pocket
Calendars/Planners: Barb Fagg moved that we purchase 2008
Pocket Calendars/Planners at a sum not to exceed $500. Seconded by
Donna Henderson. Six members were in favour. One member opposed.
MOTION CARRIED.
b) 60-day Plan:
i) AGM: The subject of not providing wine to accompany the
meal was discussed.
c) 90-day Plan:
i) The Winter Outreach
will be held on 12th February 2007.
ii) We are also looking
for a venue for the April Outreach.
iii) Luc
Bujold will look into the cost of a Digital Recorder.
11. Next Meeting:
The next meeting will be held at
10:00 a.m. on Thursday, 18th October 2007.
