minutes of planning meeting
15th march 2007

KINGSTON, ONTARIO



1. Call to Order:

The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m.

2. Roll Call:

Ron Aquino, President

3. Proposed Agenda:

The proposed Agenda was noted and was agreed to by all.

4. Minutes of the Previous Meeting:

a) Errors or Omissions: None.

b) Discussion: None.

c) Motion: Ron Henderson moved to accept the Minutes of 15th February 2007. Seconded by Donna Henderson. MOTION CARRIED.

5. Business Arising from the Minutes: Luc Bujold asked who the members of the By-Law Committee are. The three members to date are: Dennis Snider, Ron Aquino and Ron Henderson, however other members will be added as time goes on.

6. Treasurer’s Report:

Jim Spencer presented the Treasurer’s Report.

Barb Fagg moved that Jim Spencer set up another column to itemize the expenses of the 25th Anniversary Committee, and other expenses also, to make it easier to understand. Seconded by Donna Henderson. MOTION CARRIED.

Jim Spencer moved that the Treasurer’s Report be adopted as read. Seconded by Doug Kellett. MOTION CARRIED.

7. Communications & Bills:

Ron Henderson presented an invoice for our advertisement in the “Military Families” insert in the Whig Standard in the amount of $226.84.

Annie Healy received a letter from the Brockville Recorder & Times asking if we plan to put an advertisement this year. Last year the advertisement cost $72.21.

Barb Fagg stated that Jim Hugelin has been in touch with the various newspapers and he has the price list. The 25th Anniversary Committee is holding a meeting on Tuesday, 20th March to decide on this matter.

8. Reports of Officers and Committees:

a) President:

i) The President thanked Luc Bujold and Ron Henderson for getting out the ON GUARD supplement.

The President also mentioned that he had heard from Robert Laperriere regarding addresses for World Access: one is for members who live in Canada and one for those who live outside Canada and they will be posted on the web.

Doug Kellett will Chair the next meeting.

b) Vice-President/Operations: Ron Henderson advised that he had heard from the President and Vice-President of the Army/Navy/AirForce Club that the Branch has a new home for the next meeting. The telephone issue has not been resolved as yet.


c) Membership: Donna Henderson presented her report. Moved by Donna Henderson and seconded by Lois Frauendienst that the report be accepted as presented. MOTION CARRIED.


d) Health & Benefits: As Gilbert Wilcox was ill, the President advised that there was no report to be presented.

e) 25th Anniversary Report: Barb Fagg stated that there was no report this time as the Committee would be meeting on Tuesday, 20th March..


f) Welfare Committee: Lois Frauendienst advised there was no report at this time.


g) Telephone Committee: Annie Healy reported that all was ready for the Spring Luncheon at CJs in Brockville on 24th April 2007.


h) Editor/Branch Report: Luc Bujold advised the meeting that items for the Spring report are due on 11th May 2007.


i) Recruiting: Barb Fagg presented her report as follows: “Our Branch was invited by DND to give a presentation at a Retirement Planning Seminar on 7 March 07. Ron A., Ron H. and Barbara Fagg made the presentation, there were 18 people and 4 spouses in attendance. Our information was well received and we have been invited to their next seminar”. Barb Fagg moved that the report be accepted. Seconded by Donna Henderson. MOTION CARRIED.


9. Unfinished Business:

The President referred to a motion from Annie and George Healy which will be dealt with after the By-Laws have been re-written.

10. New Business:

Barb Fagg presented two books for Seniors which she received from CAA which she felt were excellent: A Guide to Programs and Services for Seniors in Ontario issued by The Ontario Seniors’ Secretariat. The Guide is available in print as well as online at: www.citizenship.gov.on.ca/Seniors. It was suggested that this information be placed on the web.

11. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held on Thursday, 19th April 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Army/Navy/AirForce Club on Gore Road.

12, Adjournment: It was moved by Doug Kellett and seconded by George Healy that the meeting adjourn. MOTION CARRIED.


The meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m.
