President’s Message
Winter 2007
Greetings
The AGM is over and the Branch is heading into another interesting year. Have you noticed that many of this year’s Board Members look very familiar? Now that is something I would like to write about. Please read this paragraph carefully and note the message. All Board Members are non-salaried volunteers, who work from their homes and who meet monthly at the Army Navy Air Force Club at 317 Gore Road Kingston on your behalf. These meetings are open to all members who may be interested in just how Branch business is conducted. It’s your Branch; you have the right to attend meetings and to voice your concerns. You also have the right to volunteer, I believe you have an obligation to volunteer a few hours a month. A few hours of your time can be satisfying and be of great benefit to many fellow members.
The Branch needs volunteers and would be glad for any time you can spare. Most tasks require very little of your time and attention. Ask the Board if there are any small tasks you may have time for and I am sure they can find one to your liking. But remember you must volunteer.
It is your Branch, if the members do not take some interest in its operation it could loose its charter leaving an excess of three thousand members searching for answers elsewhere. The ball is in your court, meet it and play it smart. Stand and volunteer.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND THE BEST
IN THE NEW YEAR

you are right, it ran before in the Summer Branch Report.
However, a lot of you are still contacting your Branch office

Board of Directors
Since your Branch Report Editor cannot see in the future, he cannot tell you whom you voted in and whom you voted out at the Branch AGM which was held on Nov 6th. He can only hoped you attended…
Convention 07
“Next Steps to Continuing Success”
A Delegate’s Comments
Convention 07 was held in Ottawa in August of this year. More than 200 delegates from across Canada and one delegate from the United Kingdom were in attendance. With over 3000 members Kingston and District Branch was allowed three delegates. Prior to the Convention, delegates and branches were sent advance copies of the Convention Workbook and of all New and Standing Resolutions. This gave the Board of Directors and delegates an opportunity to review all activities and time to discuss the pros and cons of the new Resolutions and to make recommendations on behalf of the membership.
The highlights of the Convention were:
• The approval of a new Governance Model Resolution proposing, inter alia, that an Annual Congress replace the Triennial Convention.
• The election of a new National Board of Directors.
• The approval of new membership fees in order to catch up to inflation This Convention was an experience. It was a great way to meet and exchange ideas with delegates from other Branches and to meet and chat with the National Office Staff who are so helpful with the operation of our local Branches.Be sure and read your fall issue of ON GUARD for all the details.
Very Serious Help Needed
Your President, by now Past President, spoke in general terms of the need to volunteer for your Branch in his message on page one of this report. Let me be very specific:
